SUCCEED
Synergetic Utilisation Of CO2 Storage Coupled With Geothermal Energy Deployment
The project is focused on innovative joint use of geothermal and CO2 applications.
The objectives of the SUCCEED project are
1) to research and demonstrate the feasibility of utilising produced CO2 for re-injection in a geothermal field to maintain and enhance reservoir pressure as the driving mechanism for the geothermal fluid and improve geothermal performance, while also storing the CO2 that is currently vented to the atmosphere in most geothermal fields;
2) to test and demonstrate new monitoring technologies (EM-vibrators and DAS).
OGS contributes to the site characterization studies in Turkey and Iceland, to the planning of CO2 injection and performs the field seismic monitoring of the geothermal production and CO2 injection processes with the application of innovative technologies.
OGS is also involved in the seismic monitoring with QC in the field and by remote assistance, seismic modelling to support wavefield characterization and data processing.
