Giorgio Napolitano, the President of the Republic, supports the POEM 2011 Workshop in Rome

It is with great pleasure that we have learned that Giorgio Napolitano, the President of the Republic,  gave a high recognition (Presidential medal) to the Workshop in Oceanography that will be held in Rome, at the Accademia dei Lincei, from 7 – 9 November. The workshop will be adorned by the citation “con l’adesione del Presidente della Repubblica - with the support of the President of the Republic”.

The Workshop, organized by Space Academy Foundation and OGS, and supported by CIESM, stands as an important international scientific event, as it will host a number of leading scientists from many European and USA countries.

The aim of the workshop is to present the state of the art in the knowledge of the Mediterranean Oceanography, circulation and variability within the context of long-term climatic variability.

The specific goal of the meeting is to strengthen the interaction between the European scientific institutions and the industry with the aim of formulating research projects that will help further development of our knowledge of the Mediterranean Sea, and more efficient applications of remote sensing in the monitoring of semi-enclosed seas.
