The OGS, the EvK2-CNR association and the Nepalese Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) have installed a seismic station (equipped with a Guralp broadband seismometer with a bandwidth between 60 seconds and 50 Hz) at the Pyramid Laboratory/Observatory located at 5,050 metres above sea level in Nepal at the base of Mount Everest.
The seismic station has been operational since 19 May 2014. The station operates in continuous mode at 100, 20 and 2 Hz sampling rates with 24-bit Guralp digitisers.
From the Pyramid server, the signals arrive via satellite to a server in Kathmandu, and then to the OGS acquisition centre in Italy.
