The Laboratory of Marine Geology allows the storage and study of sediment cores acquired during oceanographic cruises, especially those collected during the past 10 years in the Arctic that represent several tens of meters of sediments.
The laboratory enables basic activities with sediment cores including:
- core visual logging;
- core sampling;
- freeze-dry of sediment samples;
- sediment sieving;
- oven dry;
- analysis at microscope;
- CaCO3 analyses using a calcimeter Pizzarelli.
The cores are stored in a cool room at standard +4°C, with the possibility to also store small sediments at -20°C.
