Microbial resources: the meeting of the SUS-MIRRI.IT project
14 months after the start of activities, the SUS-MIRRI.IT project held its mid-term meeting on 2 February in Rome, at the headquarters of the CNR, where the main results achieved so far were presented and disseminated. Around 120 participants from all over Italy attended the event in person and over 100 participants were connected remotely, representing the organisations involved.
SUS-MIRRI.IT is a research project in the field of microbial resources, financed with around 17 million euros of EU funds from the National Recovery Programme (PNRR). It is coordinated by the University of Turin and comprises 24 operational units (including OGS, with its collection of marine microorganisms CoSMi) distributed throughout the national territory and belonging to 15 different research organisations. The project, divided into 6 work packages (WP), aims to strengthen the Italian network of microbial collections, MIRRI-IT, in order to maintain and improve the biotechnological potential of the microbial biodiversity preserved in them.
