Professor Icilio Renato Finetti passed away

Professor Finetti was one of the pioneers of applied geophysics in our country and one of the internationally recognised experts in the field of science and industry.

He was Director of the OGS from 1975 to 1977. During the delicate period of the 1976 earthquake, he was responsible for setting up the seismic monitoring network, which is still active in our region and is currently managed by the Seismological Research Centre.
