Robots for the blu economy: the initiatives of the MARBLE projects
In the framework of the project MARBLE, funded by INTERREG Adrion, the OGS participated in the event at the National Technical University of Athens from 29 to 31 March 2023 to exchange experiences and best practises in order to define an innovative international joint Master's programme "MARBLE - Maritime Robotics in Blue Economy".
Prof. Mounir Ghribi, Director of International Cooperation of the OGS, presented the Advanced Master in Sustainable Blue Economy, jointly organised by the OGS and the University of Trieste, as a model for international education in the Mediterranean and an example of science diplomacy. The Master was awarded by the Union for the Mediterranean (2019), was the best project at the WestMED Project Award (2021) and the best Master in Blue Economy in Europe (Blue Jobs, 2023).
The visit was also an opportunity to reflect on the next steps planned until the end of the project in September 2023. These include a training session and hackathon that will take place in Trieste from 15 to 19 May as part of an action coordinated by the University of Trieste with the support of OGS and the Maritime Technology Cluster FVG S.c.a.rl. Around 120 students will take part in the training, which will cover topics related to robotics and the blue economy and provide an opportunity to meet leading companies in the sector.
