Trieste hosts the European Gas Hydrate Conference
The second European conference on gas hydrates has started today and will end on 14 June.
The OGS is at the forefront of the organisation, which also involves the CNR IFAC, the University of Camerino, the University of Perugia and the Gas Hydrates Unit of the University "G. d'Annunzio" in Chieti-Pescara.
Natural gas hydrates represent the largest gas reserve on earth. The sustainable exploitation of this natural resource can play an important role as an alternative source of energy.
As the OGS Chairman emphasised, scientific contributions on this topic “are "essential to advance the field of sustainability and help us move towards a more sustainable future by addressing the challenges and exploiting the opportunities of gas hydrates in a changing world."
