iNEST

The iNEST Innovation Ecosystem Consortium was founded to implement its research programme as an "Innovation Ecosystem" within the framework of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). It aims to extend the benefits of digital technologies to the main specialised sectors in north-eastern Italy (Friuli Venezia Giulia, Veneto and the autonomous provinces of Trento and Bolzano). These sectors include industry and manufacturing, agriculture, the sea, the mountains, construction, tourism, culture, healthcare and the food industry.

Linking local ecosystems at a macro-regional level will enable the development of a shared "digital vision" that benefits both the economy and citizens. This will be achieved by aligning local smart specialisation strategies with a common mission for the North East. The consortium will deliver the research programme through a structure consisting of a central hub and multiple spokes. It consists of 11 founding members: nine universities and three research organisations.

iNEST falls within the "Digital, Industry, Aeronautics and Space" area of the National Research Programme (PNR).

The general objective is to rapidly extend the benefits of digital technologies to the main specialised areas in the North East (including the Friuli Venezia Giulia and Veneto regions and the autonomous provinces of Trento and Bolzano). This is to be achieved by strengthening digital technologies in areas such as industrial manufacturing, agriculture, the sea, mountains, construction, tourism, culture, health and food.

OGS is a founding member of the Hub and is associated with two spokes:
