Trained Volunteers Seismic Evaluation (TVSE) is a system for the rapid collection of observations on the effects of earthquakes by specially trained Civil Protection volunteers, developed in collaboration with the Friuli Venezia Giulia Regional Civil Protection.
After a strong earthquake, the rapid identification of the extent of the affected area is the most crucial task of civil protection authorities, and the information provided by those directly affected by an event makes all the difference.
Upon receiving notification of a seismic event, trained volunteers are asked to quickly fill in a special questionnaire, describing the impact of the event. The data are then rapidly coded and the results entered on a seismic impact map that shows in a simplified way the effect of the earthquake on the territory.
