Chiara Scaini

My research activity aims at assessing impacts caused by natural hazards on exposed assets (e.g. buildings, infrastructure) and human activities.

I am involved in the definition of impact assessment methodologies in case of hazardous phenomena (e.g. earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, floods) with focus on multi-risk exposure development. To this aim, i use multiple methods and tools that range from high performance computing to citizen science.

The leading thread of my research is the need of engaging citizens and stakeholders in managing disaster risk in a more holistic way.
