Matteo Bazzaro

He studies the marine biogeochemical cycles of carbon, nitrogen and sulfur with a particular focus on the northern Mediterranean and the western Arctic Ocean. He contributed to the discovery of cold seeps in the glacial depression of the Kveithola Trough (northwestern Barents Sea). Since 2023 he is PI of the MEFISTO project (PRIN 2022 PNRR), which aims to determine the actual contribution of the coastal marine environment to the atmospheric methane budget.
