Preventing natural hazards along the Nile: the KNIGHT project begins
Strengthening resilience to geohazards and climatic challenges along the Nile corridor: that is the aim of KNIGHT (Knowledge base for Nile Geo-Hazards Tackling), the OGS, which was officially launched yesterday, 20 January.
KNIGHT is co-financed by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and is a partner of the DIA - Department of Engineering and Architecture of the University of Trieste, the Municipality of Lignano Sabbiadoro and Shoreline Soc. Coop, the University of Damietta (Egypt) - Faculty of Science and the National Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG, Egypt).
The project aims at natural disaster mitigation and emergency management: In particular, it aims to strengthen the resilience of the natural, economic and cultural heritage along the Nile River and its delta and to support the revision of the national natural hazard mitigation plan.
