ECCSELLENT, the PNRR project to reduce CO2 in the atmosphere, has begun
Technologies related to the capture, use, transport and storage of carbon dioxide are the focus of the project "ECCSELLENT - Development of ECCSEL - R.I. ItaLian facilities: User user access, services and long-Term sustainability". The kick-off meeting of the ECCSELLENT project, funded with 16.500.000 di euro by the Ministry of University and Research under the PNRR - Next Generation EU Mission 4 "Education and Research", took place today.
The partners, coordinated by the National Institute of Oceanography and Experimental Geophysics (OGS), are the University of Bologna, the Polytechnic of Milan (in collaboration with LEAP, the research institute founded by the Polytechnic), the National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development (ENEA) and the National Research Council (CNR). Over the next 3 years, the ECCSELLENT project will take care of promoting the access, services and sustainability of the laboratories already active in the CCUS supply chain. This will make it possible to strengthen scientific excellence and equip the national research system with the necessary tools to address the major societal challenges of climate change more efficiently.
