Monitoring Earth’s Evolution and Tectonics

Banner PNRR

The Monitoring Earth's Evolution and Tectonics (MEET) project was born within the European Plate Observing System (EPOS) Research Infrastructure with the idea of relaunching observation systems dedicated to the discovery of the Earth's dynamics, focusing on the Italian territory, in particular in the regions most affected by natural risks.

The overall objective is to innovate the Italian multidisciplinary observation system to provide a research infrastructure completely open to the scientific community. MEET will contribute to the understanding of natural risks with the aim of applying effective mitigation actions, improving our resilience.

The specific objectives of the project are: to increase data production through the strengthening of national networks and the focus on the fault scale, the development of multidisciplinary observation systems and the updating of analytical laboratories; the development of computational procedures and process modeling services for the scientific community and society; the implementation of innovative platforms to transfer all acquired digital data through a new national portal of earth sciences according to the Open Access guidelines, for adequate training actions and to support the integration with the national and European framework.
