Angela Pelusi

I am a marine biologist interested in phytoplankton ecophysiology and its implications for marine ecology. My research often required the integration of different approaches and collaborations with other scientists. My first steps into plankton research were taken during my MSc thesis.  Since then my experimental work included studies with natural assemblages from marine and freshwater environments and laboratory -based experiments with monocultures.  I become increasingly interested in life cycles and trophic modes of unicellular organisms, and how they influence phytoplankton physiology and their role in population dynamics and ecosystem functioning. I am currently working on phytoplankton metabarcoring datasets as well as on the effects that phosphate limitation has on diatom monocultures.
