Profilo

I have a degree in Biochemistry and later obtained a Master's degree in Applied Biology, with a dissertation in Toxicology/Ecotoxicology, both from the University of Aveiro. I also gained valuable experience working in the Laboratory of Ecology, Ecotoxicology, and Freshwater Risk within the Department of Biology at Aveiro.

I started my career in 2019, working as a biologist for the Fajã de Santo Cristo Clam Producers Association (APAS) at the University of the Azores as part of the project 'Streamline the promotion and marine cultivation of the clam de Santo Cristo.

In early 2020, I had the opportunity to work at the Instituto do Mar (IMAR), Department of Oceanography and Fisheries (DOP) of the University of the Azores, as part of a multidisciplinary team on the Impactor project – ‘Impacts of human activity on the physiological resilience of CWCs in the Azores’.

In 2021, I took on a role at the Regional Directorate for the Environment and Climate Change of the Azores, where I coordinated a pilot project titled ‘Storage system for non-reusable beverage containers in the Azores’.

In 2022 and part of 2023, I returned to the Impactor project at IMAR, focusing on the expression of stress-related genes in CWCs following deep-sea mining and the impacts of climate change.

In May 2023 I started a postgraduate course in observational oceanography at NF-POGO CofE (Nippon Foundation - Partnership for Observation of the Global Ocean Centre of Excellence) at AWI (Alfred Wegener Institute).
